ANDROLOGY

Premature ejaculation is the most common male sexual dysfunction, regardless of age, even more common than erectile dysfunction. In Italy, it affects around 1 in 5 men in the age group between 18 and 70 years. According to the major scientific societies, the definition of PE is based on the following key criteria:

  • persistent or recurrent ejaculation with minimal sexual stimulation before, on, or shortly after vaginal penetration;
  • lack of perceived control over ejaculation;
  • negative personal consequences.

The man who suffers from PE often has low self-esteem, try discomfort, frustration, and may suffer from anxiety and depression. In addition, PE has a negative impact on the partners, resulting in a level of frustration and dissatisfaction with sexual intercourse that is comparable to man, with serious impairment of the couple's relationship.
